AmpVortex Enhances KNX Integration with Live Playback Metadata

AmpVortex has announced the latest enhancement to its KNX integration, introducing real-time media metadata capabilities across its multi-zone streaming audio platform.

With this update, the KNX integration evolves beyond traditional audio control by enabling live playback information—including track details and playback status—to be displayed directly within KNX visualization panels and automation interfaces.

Before this enhancement, AmpVortex‘s KNX integration already provided a comprehensive set of four core audio control functions:

  • Mute Control
  • Volume Control
  • Source Type Selection
  • Audio Routing

With the latest update, KNX systems can now access real-time media metadata, including:

  • Track Title
  • Artist Name
  • Album Information
  • Playback Status
  • Progress Information

This enhancement enables KNX touch panels, visualization platforms, and automation interfaces to present live playback details instead of being limited to basic transport commands.

Audio has long remained one of the more isolated subsystems in building automation. While KNX users have traditionally been able to manage functions such as volume and source selection, they have had limited visibility into the content being played. By introducing real-time playback metadata into the KNX ecosystem, we aim to deliver a more connected, intuitive, and informative user experience.”

The enhancement is now available across AmpVortex‘s centralized multi-zone streaming audio platform and is supported throughout the AmpVortex product portfolio.

AmpVortex is designed to simplify distributed audio deployments by consolidating streaming, amplification, audio routing, DSP, and automation connectivity into a single integrated platform. This eliminates the need for multiple standalone components such as external streamers, DSP processors, amplifiers, and control gateways.

The addition of real-time KNX metadata further expands the platform’s capabilities for smart homes, hospitality venues, and commercial buildings, where centralized audio distribution and building automation are becoming increasingly interconnected.

The new KNX metadata functionality is available through the latest AmpVortex firmware update.
